About Joomla!
Joomla has been in existence for 12 years. It started as an Open-source Content Management System called Mambo. In August 2005 a split took place between the core developers of Mambo and the owners of the Mambo name. The developers decided to continue the development of this software under the new name of Joomla, and most of the community that previously supported Mambo have now thrown in their weight behind the new product.
Joomla is absolutely free. Joomla contains a broad range of fantastic features and functionalities, but there are also thousands of free and commercial components and modules that can be added to a website to further enhance its features.
Joomla is more powerful than Wordpress. It has a much larger repository of extensions and templates, and those templates are better looking too. As opposed to Wordpress, Joomla allows you to scale a simple few-page website to a massive large-scale application with a few installation and configuration steps, thanks to a huge repository of free and commercial extensions that had been developed specifically for Joomla in the last 10 years.
As opposed to Drupal, Joomla is much easier to use. Joomla website templates are of much better quality too.
